Kids will be getting off school, and that means figuring out what do do this summer. You don’t have to wait for school to be out to begin the summer fun though. There are many events this may that can bring your summer off to a good start.

See the Lunar Eclipse

This is a great opportunity to learn about science and the cosmos in which we live. On the night of Sunday, May 15th, 2022 the earth’s shadow will cross the moon. The moon will be approximately directly overhead for an eclipse that will reach totality reached at about midnight.

The moon will turn red during an eye-popping spectacle unlike any other in the night sky in 2022 — as long as it isn’t cloudy.Stargazers all over the world will have an opportunity to see a blood moon over the weekend as a lunar eclipse moves into Earth’s orbit.

The penumbral eclipse, when the moon is completely immersed in the penumbral cone of the Earth without touching the umbra, the inner part of Earth’s shadow, is expected to begin Sunday just after 9:30 p.m. ET, according to NASA. The penumbral eclipse results in only part of the moon going dark.

The partial eclipse, when the moon appears to move into the umbra and part of the moon inside the umbra will appear very dark, will occur just before 10:30 p.m. ET.

Totality will begin just before 11:30 p.m. ET, when the entire moon is inside Earth’s umbra and transforms to a coppery-red hue. Totality will end before 1 a.m. Monday, and the penumbral eclipse will end at 2:50 a.m.

A dark environment away from bright lights will make for the best viewing conditions.

Check out the Naples Bird Gardens

I didn’t miss spell Naples Botanical Gardens. Naples Bird Gardens is a little known place near Corkscrew Swamp. Located on Purple Martin Drive, the Naples Bird Gardens is a sanctuary dedicated to rescuing parrots. While visitors may not get to see a vast host of bird species, they can still check out over 100 bird species found across the world. At the same time, there’s an array of butterflies and other flora to appreciate at The Naples Bird Gardens. Visitors may even get a chance to hold some birds! Otherwise, the Naples Botanical Garden is another gem in the city worth visiting, even during the hot Florida weather. What’s more, tourists can stroll along the area while appreciating the local wildlife here, birds included!

Do a Public Art Sculpture Tour

Naples has a wide variety of public art and sculptures to look for. From the wildly popular Turtles on the Town, to the Gators Galore and much more. This can be a fun “scavenger hunt” activity suitable as a fun family outing.

Enjoy the Beach

What better way to enjoy tropical weather than to relax under the sun on a white, sandy beach? Many of the beaches in Naples are nearby residential areas, so visitors don’t have to worry about noisy crowds or overly loud music while enjoying the ocean waters. Some of the best beaches in Florida are found in Naples, whether it’s taking a dip at Lowdermilk Beach or finding unique seashells at Barefoot Beach.

Take in a show at Artis Naples

Artis Naples is perhaps not the best known place for summer programming, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t any summer concerts. The month of May has a lot of “late season” concerts that are popular with locals. This presents an excellent educational opportunity for kids to have access to some of the finest musical perfoemances.

This includes a modern dance performance by Limon Dance Company on May 17th at 8:00PM, the last major orchestra concert of the season titled Naples Philharmonic Jazz Orchestra All that Jazz with special guest Warren Wolf. Acclaimed vibraphonist Warren Wolf returns to perform with the Naples Philharmonic Jazz Orchestra. Wolf is a multitalented musician who received both classical and jazz training and regularly performs as a pianist, drummer and vibraphonist. A bop torchbearer, he carries the mantle of legendary vibraphonists like Bobby Hutcherson and Milt Jackson.

The Naples Ballet will perform Copelia on May 29th at 7:00 PM. This concert is an excellent opportunity to introduce children to the art of ballet.

May is also when the Philharmonic Orchestra puts on its ever classic Patriotic Pops concert which will be held on May 26th, and 27th just before Memorial Day Weekend.

If you don’t think you can afford the expensive Artis Naples tickets there are several free events. On Saturday May 21st, Artis Naples opens its campus to the community for free for one day only.

Artis—Naples welcomes the entire community to the Kimberly K. Querrey and Louis A. Simpson Cultural Campus for a day of art, music and fun. This free event includes hands-on activities in The Baker Museum, musical performances and special activities throughout the day.

Activities from 10am–4pm

Sketching Sights and Sounds Art Display
Art Activities
Docent Tours of the Baker Museum
Temporary Tattoos
Village School Steel Drum Band  •  11am, 11:40am, 1:30pm, 3:20pm

 Magic Carpet Percussion  •  10am and 11:15am
 Youth Symphonia Concert  •  Noon
Youth Symphonia Chamber Ensembles  •  2pm
 Youth Chorus Concert  •  4pm.

Another free concert is the Naples Philharmonic Pro Am Concert held on June 12th.

The “pros” of the Naples Philharmonic will team up with musicians from our community — the “amateurs” — in a special collaborative event that is open to the public on Sunday, June 12, 2022.

Catch a dance Performance

Another educational activity is catching a dance performance. May is recital season, and going to a show, or even livestreaming one is great way to introduce your kids to the art of dance.

Etudes De Ballet and Company will be hosting a performance of Copelia on May 21st, and 22nd at the Golden Gate High School auditorium. This iconic comic ballet follows the story of a beautiful young woman named Swanhilda. Your family will be able to celebrate the growth of our dancers in this stunning production held at Golden Gate High School.

Also check out the Crown Jewel of Dancesport Competition which is going to be held at the Ritz Carlton on the weekend of May 13th and 14th. If you like dancing with the stars or Strictly Come Dancing, then this is the show for you.

Collier County is blessed with a great variety of public art and sculptures. You will find these sculptures throughout the area. From the famed bronze works of renowned sculptor Kathy Spalding, the rock sculptures by Raymond Lutgert, or the various community art projects like Turtles on the Town and Gators Galore, you will find something unique in about every corner of the Naples area.

Public Art in East Naples

The Freedom Horses

Located in their own park near the corner of Lely Resort Blvd and US-41, you will find the Freedom Horses. This sculpture is often referred to by locals as simply, “the horses” or “the lely horses”. Sculpted by Veryl Goodnight, the horses were created to commemorate the role the horse has played in the creation of the American culture.

“The horse has been used by artists throughout the centuries to symbolize strength, power, & freedom,” said Veryl Goodnight, the sculptor who designed the bronze life horses. They each weigh about 1 ton. In fact, the stallion model was Robert Redford’s favorite “Rising Star,” the horse he rode in the movie “The Electric Horseman.”

The horses stand amidst a decorative fountain and rushing stream, reminiscent of the brooks of New England where the midnight ride of Paul Revere took place. The park includes a small parking area and benches as well as a pathway on which to walk around the sculpture.

Mustang Canyon

Also created by Veryl Goodnight, Mustang Canyon was designed in a similar style to the Freedom Horses. You will find it at the corner of Grand Lely Dr. and Collier Blvd. This sculpture is also a tribute to the horse in American History. You will notice the dryer, reddish rock western landscape here as opposed to the babbling brooks of the northeast. This sculpture commemorates the role of the horse in America’s westward expansion.

La Donna

Crafted from Carrara marble by Hungarian artist Márton Váró, the 15-foot-tall, 22 ton “La Donna” standing at the corner of Collier Boulevard and Tamiami Trail East depicts an abstract woman. And it is a very unique sculpture and has its supporters and decractors, it is both the best and worst example of Collier public art.

It commemorates the achievements of County Comissioners Donna Fiala in supporting the creation of usable public spaces in the East Naples and South Naples areas.

“It’s abstract art. It’s someone welcoming, encouraging, embracing. The undulating lines give pleasure,” said sculptor Marton Varo, a Hungarian artist whose work can be seen at Naples Community Hospital, and above the entrance to the iconic church in the town of Ave Maria.

He calls the piece “La Donna,” Italian for the woman, but Varo says it isn’t meant to be taken literally.

Italian is the language of sculpture, and Naples is an Italian city name.

In art, the concepts of liberty, peace and justice are all embodied by women, so he wanted to invoke all those sentiments without carving an actual woman, he said.

The answer will always be in the eye of the beholder, but Varo hopes they will come away thinking, “It’s something playful, welcoming, pleasant to look at.”

Pile of Gators

Pile of Gators outside Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center

Located outside Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center is Pile of Gators, the original bronze sculpture by Kathy Spalding that inspired the Gators Galore community art project in back in 2002. This sculpture depicts life like bronze gators, and is one of Kathy Spalding’s signature works.

Deflective Paradigm

Circle of Friends

Circle of Friends depicts an animal representative from each of the 7 continents engaged in the childhood favorite, “Ring Around The Rosie. You will find this sculpture within the Naples Botanical Garden.

The Lyric of Life

You’ll find this sculpture outside FSW State College. This giant stainless steel lyre was created by Raymond Lutgert and stands at the center of the pond outside the entrance to FSW,

Public art in Naples

Garden of Hope and Courage

The Garden of Hope and Courage is a quiet park near the Naples Community Hospital in Downtown Naples. Located at the corner of 8th St. N and 2nd Ave N, the garden serves as the community’s gift those heroes who served in our nation’s health system

The garden’s ceremonial entrance, just off 8th St. is flanked by 3 beautiful bronze statues sculpted by local artist Kathy Spalding. Spalding, who has designed many sculptures throughout Naples, is well known for the 22,000 pound, 40 foot flying-fish fountain located at the Atlantis Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. The designs she created for the Garden of Hope and Courage took almost three years to finalize and now grace the garden’s entrance. Two feather like sculptures each weighing about 1,500 pounds frame a 500 pound sculpture of a woman holding a hibiscus stamen. This statue has become the garden’s icon known as “Bloom”.  Around “Bloom’s” base one can find dedications made by visitors for loved ones.

As you enter through the gates you walk into a lovely area known as the formal garden filled with blooming annual flowers such as begonias and impatiens. The view from this garden overlooks the lake under a curving trellis with growing bougainvillea. This area is home to benches and trees named in recognition of loved ones.

As you follow the 8 ft. concrete path around the garden you will see plants such as pickerel weed, canna lilies, duck potato and blue-flag iris lining the lake. Other species of plants you will see include bamboo, a teddy bear palm that trunk is as furry as a real teddy bear, red buttons, bat plants, Christmas palms, Hurricane palms, magnolia trees, bulnesia trees, viburnum, oak trees and more.

The Dalton Family Children’s garden includes sculptures of children skipping over a pond, The Bronze Sea Turtle that inspired the Turtles on the Town Arts Project, and large chimes that play an enchanting melody.

Scorpion

Created by the famed local sculptor Kathy Spalding is the Scorpion Statue located in Baker Park. “This particular creature is a critical reminder the weather can be fierce. We are reminded constantly of the fierceness of nature — every storm takes its toll on us,”

The sculpture is also important as a representation of the Naples sculptor’s art, which celebrated nature in every size and shape. Spalding, who died in 2014, was known internationally for her wildlife sculptures. They have been commissioned for museums, casinos and hotels; cruise ships; and private collections.

Turtle Mosaics

Naples Sculpture Walk

Jerri and David Hoffmann are lovers of art and have personally donated to the downtown Naples area a number of beautiful pieces of artwork viewable up and down 5th Ave South, The 3rd Street District and other key areas. We welcome you to explore the sculptures and learn about the artist and each piece of art on our sculpture walk.

Dabba Doo

At Sugden Plaza off 5th Ave S you will find Dabba Doo. A sculpture depicting an alligator as a chef. The sculpture was created to commemorate the diverse offerings of food in Collier County and stands outside Yabba’s Island Grill.

Chili Gator

At Tin City, You’ll find Chili Gator. This Sculpture of a red and yellow painted alligator commemorates the “swamp” side of Naples and the cajun and southern heritage here in Collier County.

Insta Gator

Located along Naples Bay and visible only by boat is Insta Gator. This sculpture depicts an alligator as a Red Devil and is part of the 2004 addition to the 2002 Gators Galore. The gator is a complement to Heavenly Gate-Tour, which was a work by the same artist.

Degas Tor

Firefighter Gator

Human Race

Human Race by Raymond Lutgert

Human Race by Raymond Lutgert is located at the corner of Park Shore Drive and Gulf Shore Blvd. From just the right angle, it appears to resemble the letter H.

It is simple in that it is two misshapen columns, but the emotions that it invokes are powerful. It highlights the race to the top of the proverbial food chain that we are all trying to win. It can appear as someone taking that first step in a new endeavour, or one reaching for the sky depending on the angle it is viewed from.

North Naples

Turtle of Life

Gator Crossing

By the back entrance of the Naples Daily News printing works, you will find Gator Crossing. From the 2004 addition to Gators Galore, it is an alligator sculpture painted with a crossword puzzle design.

The coming of April in Naples, FL always brings in a breath of fresh air. As the northerners typically head north over the Easter holiday, the pace of everything generally slows down. Less traffic on the roads, and much less competition for restaurant tables and tee times.

Not everything stops in the off season though. Events happen, but they will feel much less crowded with a much more laid back pace.

Late spring and early summer are still a happening time here in Collier County and the calendar is chock full of family friendly events. The end of may brings the end of the Collier schools academic year and the start of summer. If you have kids in school, I bet they all have spring fever and want to start the fun before summer starts. Who can blame them though? I don’t think being cooped up in a classroom is that fun is it?

Fun things to do this spring:

1: Easter Egg Hunt

I bet you are egg-cited for spring to begin. You can plan a fun egg hunt with your kids in the backyard, or go to an event in one of the local parks and let the carnage begin as kids descend on a field of eggs.

For an interesting take on egg hunts kids can scour the pool bottom for eggs at one of the Underwater Easter Egg Hunts at Golden Gate Pool or Eagle Lakes Park Pool.

2: Concert in the Park

Cambier Park, Baker Park and Sugden Park routinely host outdoor concerts in the park. Whatever your taste in music you will be able to find an outdoor concert that interests you this spring.

If you are a jazz lover, you can check out the big band concerts in Cambier Park on Sunday April 10th, and Monday April 11th.

If classical is your thing, Naples Concert Band will be playing its end of season concert in Cambier Park on April 24th at 2:00 PM.

3: Go To a Museum

4: Go To the Zoo

On the 1st Saturday of every month, the Naples Zoo is free to Collier County residents. May 7th and June 4th are the next collier county free days at the Naples Zoo. This is a fun activity for families to enjoy before the summer heat makes it unbearable.

5: Check out a dance performance

Collier County has a variety of dance groups, and the calendar is rife with performances during the spring and summer months from April through the 4th of July.

Naples Ballet will be presenting its performance of Copellia on May 29th at 8:00 PM. This is a great event for both the serious dance connoisseur or someone who is just now showing a budding interest in dance. This is a full-length ballet set to music by Delibes. In this romantic comedy ballet, Dr. Coppélius the toymaker creates a life-size dancing doll named Coppélia. The doll is so lifelike that young Franz becomes romantically attracted to her… much to the dismay of his fiancée, Swanhilda.

On May 17th, at 8:00PM, the Limón Dance Company will perform to the music of the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra at Artis Naples. Founded in 1946 by José Limón and Doris Humphrey, the Limón Dance Company has been at the vanguard of American modern dance since its inception and is considered one of the world’s greatest dance companies. Choreographer and dancer José Limón is credited with creating one of the world’s most important and enduring dance legacies — an art form responsible for the creation, growth and support of modern dance in this country. Acclaimed for its dramatic expression, technical mastery and expansive yet nuanced movement, the Limón Dance Company illustrates the timelessness of Limón’s work and vision. The company’s repertory, which includes classic works in addition to new commissions from contemporary choreographers, possesses an unparalleled breadth and creates unique experiences for audiences around the world.

If you love Dancing with the Stars, or if you’re British Strictly Come Dancing, check out the Crown Jewel of Dancesport Competition going on at the Ritz Carlton from May 12th – May 15th.

6: Go watch a baseball game

With the coming of spring brings the start of baseball season.

We might not have professional baseball in Collier County, but just in the north in Lee County is the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels Baseball. The minor league starts its season this spring and brings the national pass time to Southwest Florida.

7: Check out an event at Paradise Coast Sports Complex

From May 8th – July 9th, Naples United FC, Naples own professional soccer team has its season with home games on May 8th, and 21st, June 4th, and 26th, and July 2nd.

You have probably seen at least one of the “Turtles on the Town” sculptures in the Naples area and wondered if there were more of them. The truth is that there were 50 turtles on the town sculptures made in the Naples area.

The turtles were created for an art exhibit and fundraiser auction, and each one is a unique sculpture with an painted design depicting life in Naples and Collier county or promoting turtle conservation.

In March of 2016, the turtles went up for auction and found their forever homes. Scattered throughout the Collier County area and even far and wide you can still find the turtles. The turtles made their debut in late 2016, and the people of the area have adopted the statues as “public pets”.

What began as a temporary art exhibit has become permanent and and the turtles have become the county’s unofficial mascot. (They are definitely cuter than the Collier County Turkey).

Where the Turtles can be found.

Calusa Tortuga made his way to Nantucket and is in a private collection.

One turtle “Crave Garden” is now on display at a catering company in Washington DC. Another turtle “Namaste Turtle” made as far as Germany and is now a lawn ornament. Since 2016, many of the turtles have since been sold and resold and have made their way around. A few ended up in the scrapyard, and some been liberated.

Twyla’s fate is presently unknown and is presumed lost or destroyed.

The good news is that most of the turtles are still in Collier County waiting for you to find them and pay them a visit. The turtle sculptures make for in interesting scavenger hunt for a day of exploring the Collier County area.

The Collier County Public Schools will be having spring break from March 11th, through the 20th. This is a time when the kids are off school and you need to find something to keep them and yourself occupied.

St. Patrick’s Day falls during Spring Break for Collier County School students. This means a plethora of St Patrick’s Day events are available in addition to a busy calendar of events.

Ideas for fun outings during Spring Break week:

Go to the Naples Zoo

Spend the day checking out the many animals, and see unique animal shows like the “safari canyon show”.

Don’t miss Naples Zoo’s newest event, Spring Safari. This event was designed to be an educational and exciting spring break resource for families with children in Collier and Lee County schools. The Collier County Spring Safari event will be held on Wednesday, March 16, Thursday, March 17, and Friday, March 18.

Naples Zoo invites you to meet some of the kings of the jungle in their land, dance the day away with a DJ, enjoy a fun show with professional magicians, jugglers and big cat shows.

Take the safari to another level with face painting, keeper talks, educational shows, and the Primate Expedition Cruise. Join Naples Zoo for a party that gets bigger and better around every turn!

Activities include character meet-and-greets, live entertainment, activity and education stations with local non-profit organizations, and endless photo opportunities. Guests can also see their favorite animals receive special spring treats! All of the Spring Safari activities are included in regular Zoo admission.

Visit the Conservancy

Check out the Natural History Museum and take a boat ride on the Gordon River to see endangered wildlife. Tour the natural history museum, take an electric boat ride on the Gordon River and see how you can make a difference in your local and global environment.

Take a walk through Corkscrew Swamp

Take a walk on the boardwalk in Corkscrew Swamp. This is best done now, in the dry season when there are fewer mosquitoes.

Attend the Naples St. Patrick’s Day Parade

On March 12th, 2012, Fifth Avenue South will host the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. The parade will feature irish themed floats, as well as bagpipe bands, and traditional irish music and dance.

See an Irish Dance Performance

Go to the Beach

March is a great time to visit the beach, but it can get a little crowded with parking hard to find at the busier locations. This is by the way “peak season” in the Naples area. You should be able to find plenty of space at the less crowded locations like Tigertail Beach or the beach end streets south of the Naples Pier.

Its always a nice to enjoy a sunset beachside picnic, or for a nice day on a deserted island put your cooler on a raft and float over to Sand Dollar Island at Tigertail Beach. Its only like a football field length from the main Tigertail Beach.

Those “blow up pools” make excellent rafts and will hold two people and a cooler comfortably on a quiet journey across the lagoon out to a little slice of paradise,

Tour the Gollisano Children’s Museum of Naples

This is a great experience for kids in the Naples area. With STEAM education opportunities and fun play areas this is perhaps the best kids experience in the Naples area.

Kids can invent something in the Inventioneers Lab, or check out the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the sewer. Explore their sewer-like lair, where good guys win and bad guys lose! Since 1984, these four iconic brothers have rocked it with their talent and teamwork, inspiring generations. Now families can join these pizza-eating, crime-fighting “heroes in a half shell” to hone their ninja skills and problem-solving intellects while learning the secrets of the sewer!

Visit the shell exhibition on Marco Island

See elaborate seashell artworks usually relegated to pirate ships and private collections at this special limited engagement exhibition. On March 10th, 11th and 12th from 10:00AM to 4:00PM these unique artworks will be on display at the New Life Community Church off Elkcam Cir on Marco Island. Various works will be available for sale / raffle if you desire to become a collector yourself, or are are already an avid art collector.

Check out the Turtles on the Town

You may have seen the painted and bronze turtle sculptures throughout the Naples area. These make for an interesting scavenger hunt to find them all. I know gas is expensive, but going on a “turtle tour” can make for a fun local scavenger hunt. There are over 25 turtle sculptures throughout the county, and many are located at points of interest. This can be a fun activity for sometime during the spring break week.

The cool weather of January brings Manatees into the warmer bays surrounding southwest Florida as the gulf chills down.

The best way to see manatees in Collier County is from a boat, but BE CAREFL (boats have caused many manatee fatalities). Manatees can also be viewed from shore in various locations in Collier County. You are very likely to see manatees in locations where fresh water canals meet salt water canals, as well as in tidal channels that are important migration routes.

In the winter manatees tend to be within the inland waterways, usually close to the spillways, and in summer the manatees are most often found in areas of seagrass.

Tigartail Channel

The channel between Tigertail Beach / Hideaway Beach and Sand Dollar Island is a haven for manatees. This shallow tidal channel has very warm water and is a place where manatees often congregate during cold weather. Take a canoe/kayak trip the seagrass beds in this unique ecosystem and you may spot numerous manatees in the lagoon.

Conservationists have had to aid stuck manatees in the shallow middle section of the channel due to low tide causing the channel to dry up. Thankfully storms in January 2022 have opened up a new channel across Sand Dollar Island which improves the connection to the gulf making this a much more manatee friendly area.

Port of the Islands (Faka Union Canal)

Port of the Islands off US-41 is a manatee refugium where manatees go during cold weather. The canal spillway here a place Manatees come to drink fresh water coming out of the Golden Gate Estates canals. Manatees prefer to drink fresh water if it is available, although they can survive on salt water.

It is common to see manatees within the residential canals in the Port of the Islands neighborhood as well as near the spillway. If you are looking for a true adventure, boat tours of the area are available from Wild Florida Ecotours, and Manatee Eco Tours.

These tours will take you throughout the extensive canal system and into the waterways of the everglades and include other wildlife such as alligators, crocodiles and dolphins in addition to manatees.

Gordon River / Golden Gate Canal

Similar to the Faka Union Canal is the Gordon River area. Located behind the Naples Zoo, there is a kayak launch as well as tours available from the Conservancy of Southwest Florida. This area is a “urban mangrove jungle” right in the heart of Naples Florida.

You will find manatees oftentimes near the spillways on the Upper Gordon River Canal and the Golden Gate Main Canal where these waterways empty into the Gordon River. This is perhaps the best place to see manatees up close in a jungle cruise like setting.

The Ten Thousand Islands are a popular place for locals as well as visitors to celebrate the new year. We in Florida like to call it “New Years Everglades Style”. It has been toned down quite a bit over the years since the celebratory gunfire and illegal fireworks that used to occur on Camp Lulu Key.

You will know you are a “gladesman” if you heard of the Camp Lulu Key new years celebration. This used to be a big deal for Port of the Islands residents and always had a somewhat infamous reputation. It was kind of like “Burning Man Island Style” from what I’ve heard.

For new years day we decided to check out one of the Ten Thousand Islands new years parties to see that New Years in the islands was all about.

It was a foggy morning when we launched out of Goodland Boat Park to make our way to the gulf via Coon Key Pass. As we passed sugar bay the fog lifted. We stopped off at Coon Key, but there wasn’t anyone there so we made our way out to Brush Island.

Once we got out to Brush Island there was a fairly large boat rally on the northwest sandbar. Several john boats were anchored in the channel, and there were lots of canoes on the beach.

Gathering on Brush Island.

For the infamous reputation these islands have of harboring outlaws, everyone here was very friendly. The island had the whole castaway feel. We stopped and joined in for a small bonfire and cooked up the hot dogs and canned collard greens we had brought out to the island.

We had our picnic lunch, and then burned off old papers from 2021, and 2020. What crazy years those were.

We then told a group of paddlers how to get out to Hog Key to camp for the night. We weren’t camping for the night but we have camped here before. I then told the story of John Panther Gomez and how he was the real Jose Gaspar.

Pirate legends are a thing here, and John Panther Gomez is Collier County’s Jose Gaspar.

We then headed back to Goodland with the wind and tide at our backs to finish out a new years eve day in the Ten Thousand Islands.
